FAQ

Common Questions About Bathroom Remodeling

How long does a bathroom remodel take?

A typical hall bath takes 4–6 weeks; a primary suite with structural changes generally runs 8–12 weeks. We give you a written schedule and weekly progress updates.

What does a bathroom remodel cost in the Bay Area?

Hall baths commonly run $35,000–$60,000; primary bathrooms with custom showers and high-end finishes typically run $60,000–$150,000. We provide fixed-scope written proposals.

Will you reuse my existing fixtures?

If they're in good condition and you'd like to, yes. We'll evaluate honestly during the consultation and tell you what's worth keeping.

What waterproofing system do you use?

We install Schluter Kerdi sheet membrane or Hydro Ban liquid-applied waterproofing in every shower, properly tied to the drain and lapped at all corners and penetrations. Tile and grout are not waterproof — the membrane behind them is what keeps water out of your framing.

Can you build a curbless walk-in shower?

Yes. Curbless (zero-threshold) showers require subfloor recessing and proper slope to a linear drain. We build them regularly for both aesthetics and aging-in-place accessibility.

Do you handle bathroom permits?

Yes. Bathroom remodels typically require building, plumbing, and electrical permits. We handle every submittal and inspection — you don't deal with the city.

Can you install a heated bathroom floor?

Yes — electric radiant floor heating systems (Schluter DITRA-HEAT, NuHeat, etc.) are commonly added during a tile floor installation. We rough-in the wiring and thermostat as part of the remodel.
